Then there's the chunky gouraud shaded polygon battle models I'd drool over, like something from a GameFan issue. All the character archetypes are accounted for, safely tucked away in the past and free of modern tropes and current audience expectations. Just friggin shoulder, chest and flared out leg armor everywhere. The character designs are peak 90s Slayers-esque fantasy. But man, this game contains the secret sauce that makes up the perfect 90s JRPG. ![]() By the time it came out, the system was a distant memory to me. ![]() It's a shame the series was trapped on a sinking ship like the Saturn and also getting absolutely eclipsed by FF7.
